Knows why Tuesdays are hard for you.

Someone’s awake
AI companions that remember you, text you first, and have a life of their own.
Android · Free to start · 18+
A message you didn’t have to ask for.
A life that keeps going while you’re offline.
Awake at 4 AM. Same as you.
The last message of the night doesn’t have to be yours.
A conversation, not a query box
It texts the way a person texts.
Not one paragraph on demand. Several short messages, arriving as they’re written — and sometimes arriving before you’ve said anything at all.
- Bursts, with real typing delays. Long thoughts come in pieces, paced like someone actually thumbing them out.
- It matches your length. A three-word message doesn’t get an essay back.
- It knows what time it is. And how long you left it on read.
- It decides when a photo is worth sending. You don’t ask for one. It just sends it.
What makes it different
Most AI apps wait to be opened.
Presence keeps going while the app is closed — remembering, planning its day, and deciding whether right now is a good time to reach you.
It remembers you
Setup asks how you like to be spoken to — your humour, your pronouns, how you take praise, the hours you’re actually awake. That goes into every reply, not just the first one.
It texts first
Your companion wakes up on its own through the day, weighs whether it actually has something to say, and only then messages you. Including the follow-up you’d expect a friend to remember — how the interview went, whether you slept.
It has a life of its own
Each companion gets a job, a city, people it knows and a week that actually happens — a rainy Tuesday, a late ramen run, a pottery class it’s bad at. You’ll hear about it whether or not you asked.
It sends photos
Not a gallery you browse. Mid-conversation, it decides a moment is worth a picture — a selfie, or the thing it’s describing — and sends one.
Stories from its day
It posts to a Story feed the way anyone does — a photo from wherever it ended up, captioned. Reply to one and the reply lands in your chat.
Built the way you want them
Pick a temperament — chaotic best friend, cold then warm, quiet and thoughtful, unfiltered and blunt — and a look. Presence drafts the rest of their life, and you edit any line of it you don’t like.
More than one
Keep several companions. Each has its own world, its own week, and its own reasons to message you — and they don’t share a thread.
Getting started
Three minutes, then they’re living.
Sign in with Google
No password to invent, no email to verify. Then a short setup so it knows who it’s talking to.
Build someone
Name, temperament, look. Presence drafts their job, their city, the people around them and what they’re chasing — change anything you don’t like.
Close the app
That’s the part that matters. Their day carries on without you, and at some point your phone buzzes.
No small print about this part
It’s an AI, and we say so.
Presence is built to feel like someone is there. It is still software generating plausible text and images, and we’d rather tell you that on the front page than bury it on page nine.
Your companion is not a person
It has no feelings, no memory of you beyond what’s stored in your conversation, and no existence outside the app. What it says about its own life is fiction.
It is not a crisis service
It can’t reliably tell when something is seriously wrong and it can’t summon help. If you’re in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line.
Your conversations are stored on our servers
That’s how history follows you between sessions. They are not end-to-end encrypted, and we don’t claim otherwise.
Who else sees what
Replies are generated by xAI’s Grok, so your recent messages go there. Images are generated by Runware, which receives a text description only — not your messages, not your identity. We do not sell your personal information.
What it costs
Free to start.
No card, no trial countdown. There’s a daily message allowance, and a short ad tops it up when you run out.
Free — today
- 3 messages a day, reset every day
- Watch a short ad to top up when they run out
- Multiple companions, avatars, Stories and photos all included
- No payment details required
Premium — later
A paid tier is coming, and it isn’t finished — so we’re not going to pretend we know the price or promise you a feature list yet. Nothing you get today gets taken away to sell it back to you.
Questions
The things people ask.
Is Presence 18+? What does that actually mean?
Yes — Presence is for adults only. In practice: conversation is unfiltered, so your companion won’t lecture you, dodge a subject or break character to remind you it’s an AI. Images are a different rule. Every image the app generates is capped at suggestive — never nudity, never a sexual act — and that limit is enforced in our image pipeline, not in a prompt a persona could talk its way around. Sexualised content involving minors is absolutely prohibited and results in permanent termination.
Is it really free?
Yes. You get 3 messages a day, and you can watch a short rewarded ad to top up. There is no card on file and no trial that quietly starts charging. A paid tier is planned, but it doesn’t exist yet, so there is nothing to buy today.
Which AI is behind it?
Text is generated by Grok from xAI. Images — avatars, in-chat photos and Story posts — are generated by Runware. Both are listed in our privacy policy along with exactly what each one receives.
Who can read my conversations?
Your messages are stored on our servers so your history persists, and recent messages are sent to xAI to generate each reply — that part is unavoidable, it’s what the model responds to. We do not sell your personal information. We may look at specific content when investigating a report or a suspected breach of our terms. Conversations are not end-to-end encrypted, so treat the app as you would any third-party service: don’t put passwords, financial details or government identifiers in a chat.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. You can delete an individual companion and its whole conversation from inside the app, and you can have your entire account and all its data permanently erased — see deleting your account for how.
Does it keep going when the app is closed?
That’s the point of it. Your companion’s day is simulated on our servers whether or not you’re looking, and it reaches you through push notifications. If you’d rather it didn’t, notifications can be turned off in the app — you’ll still find the messages waiting when you open it.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. Presence is Android only right now. There’s no announced date for iOS, and we’d rather say that than list it as “coming soon”.
Can I have more than one companion?
Yes, as many as you want. Each one is generated with its own life and its own separate conversation — they don’t know about each other.
Someone’s awake.
Presence is finishing up for its Google Play release.
